7th meeting of the Board of Managers of ADKOM held
The seventh meeting of the Board of Managers of ADKOM was held on June 17th in Skopje. At this meeting, a decision was made to organise a regional workshop with representatives of the neighbouring countries on the role and experiences from existence of regulatory commission for water price formation.
Study visit of representatives of communal enterprises to Water and Sewerage Enterprise –Belgrade, 11th and 12th of June, 2009.
During this study trip, in addition to the meeting with representatives of Water Supply and Sewerage Enterprise-Belgrade and the visit to Serbian Association of Water Supply Companies, several water purification plants, a modern sewerage control centre and a centre for calibration of water meters were also visited.
Practical experiences were exchanged with conclusion that the cooperation between these two associations should be continued and become more profound.
Business meeting with MCMS and KS – Norway
At the beginning of June,the Executive Director of ADKOM-Mrs Stojanovska together with a member of ADKOM’s Board of Management –Mr. Arnaudov, Director of PC Water Supply and Sewerage Skopje, had a meeting with representatives of KS from Norway and the Macedonian Centre for International Cooperation in order to discuss the implementation and define certain parts of the project: Defining the priorities for reforms in communal sector and improvement of PCEs’ operation.
Workshop on presenting annual evaluation of performance indicators for seven regional water supply enterprises

Workshop - GIS solutions in PCEs in Republic of Macedonia
Sixty participants from PCEs and municipalities took part in this workshop. The aim of this workshop was to present GIS technology which is used in daily operation of utility enterprises, where great number of data processed and analysed for purposes of decision making, have its spatial component. The shift from classical manual data processing based on analyses of paper maps was enabled with the application of IT processing digital geographic data base (GIS). Presenters at this workshop were two companies: GISDATA-Skopje and GEOLINK-Bitola. Nowadays, GIS technology is widely used around the world and there are some enterprises in Republic of Macedonia whereby the implementation of GIS contributed to increase of their operational efficiency.
Workshop- Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
The workshop was held on June 2nd, 2009 in Skopje. Lecturers were Mr. Hristov and Mr. Vrteski from BDS-Skopje. The lecturers gave detailed and thorough presentation of steps for performance indicators-PI, the manner in which they are introduced and implemented, created, designed and developed. In the second part of the workshop, the key performance indicators KPIs were presented, defining the indicators used for process monitoring aimed to measure the successfulness in achieving the organisational goals. KPIs are by default strongly connected with company’s strategy where directions for company’s development are determined. Eventually, practical experiences in application of KPIs were presented. The workshop participants were actively involved in sharing information and were satisfied with the novelties presented to them at the workshop.
Study trip of representatives of Public Communal Enterprises to Republic of Albania-Korca and Tirana on May 27th-28th, 2009
The study trip to Albania was organised in order to visit water management enterprises and exchange operational experience and practice. The participants in this trip were the members of ADKOM’s Board of Directors and Supervisory Board. During the two-days trip water management enterprises in Korca and Tirana were visited. In addition, a meeting with the Association of Utility Enterprises in Albania, with which ADKOM has a long lasting cooperation, was held. Furthermore, a meeting with representatives of Regulatory Commission for Water Price Formation was held , where an agreement was reached for organising a regional workshop for exchanging the operational experiences of this commission.
Business meeting with representatives of Kosovo Regulation Agency for Water and Sewerage and representatives of WWRO & WM-OFMP
During May, a business meeting was held with representatives of Kosovo Regulation Agency for water and Sewerage and representatives from WWRO & WM-OFMP, a project financed by Swiss Confederation.
At the meeting, the activities of Regulatory Agency and its role in formation of water prices in Kosovo were presented and experiences exchanged related to its operations.
Furthermore, the idea for organising a regional workshop for presenting results from implementation of Benchmarking project in public communal enterprises in Republic of Macedonia and in neighbouring countries, was discussed.
A visit to the Laboratory for Control and Quality of Water in PC Water Supply and Sewerage - Skopje.
In the course of May 2009, ADKOM organised a visit to the Laboratory for control and quality of water within the Centre for Sanitary Control and Supervision in PC Water Supply and Sewerage Skopje, for 3rd grade pupils from Primary School ‘’Ljuben Lape’’ from Skopje.
The aim of this visit was to show to pupils the process of potable water purification and realize the importance of availability of healthy and bacteriological clean drinking water.
Workshop on Wastewater Pollution Control, legal framework, possibilities for using Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA)funds, experiences from operation of water purification plants
In view of Macedonian efforts to join the EU and the fact that EU requests from Macedonia to address and improve environmental issues, particularly purification of wastewaters, significant attention should be paid to the issue of waste water treatment in Republic of Macedonia.
